Changing weather conditions - is this a sign of things to come?

We've seen many changes in weather patterns all across the globe. From sudden dips in temperatures in previously warm places to the warming of others. I live in Livermore, California where it does get cold (not as cold as many other places) with temperatures dipping into the 20+ F during winter, but in March when spring is just around the corner it is unusual to see snow on the mountains around the city. Last week we have had snow as low as 600 feet and this happened for 3 days. That is very unusual. I have heard that on one night it actually snowed at ground level in parts of the city but cannot confirm that.

Is this a sign of changing weather conditions in the coming future? Makes one wonder.
